William Hill is owned by Evoke Group, formerly 888Holdings, which is considered to be one of the world's leading betting and gaming companies. Coupled with the reputation of the bookie itself, it's only fair to have high expectations.
In this review, we put the site to the test by signing up, verifying our account, depositing real money, placing bets and withdrawing funds.
Our unique BL Score also combines real user tests from Trustpilot, app stores and the editorial team to give a full, honest look at William Hill.

William Hill is one of the largest betting operators in the industry. It has been steadily and significantly expanding within the UK, Ireland, and globally, with over 2 million online account holders worldwide.
I tested the bookie extensively to see what all the fuss is about and throughout the whole process, I was left highly impressed.
Let's start with the payment options as there were just three available. That's a little disappointing, but despite this, the deposit and withdrawal processes were seamless.
The minimum deposit is €10 and the minimum withdrawal is even less at just €5, excellent for the casual bettor. What's more, our withdrawal took just 15 minutes from request to receipt of funds. We could also use Revolut, hidden amongst the bank transfer option.
Onto the markets and there's excellent depth at William Hill, with the football and racing products standing out. Choose from a myriad of promos, specials and features like Bet Builder, live streaming, price boosts and Best Odds Guaranteed, daily.
Betting margins at Hills on all the big football matches average at 7.5%, which is solid. There are hundreds of markets on Premier League and Champions League games, and you can choose up to 15 markets in-game to populate your Bet Builder.
We should also make a quick note on the customer support staff, who were professional and efficient. They were extremely helpful with verification checks in our review and test.
The Evoke Group (plc), which was formerly known as 888Holdings, completed a takeover of William Hill back in July 2022. The group changed its name in 2024.
The Evoke Group also owns and operates other internationally renowned betting and gaming brands including 888sport, Mr Green, and Winner.ro.
According to the Evoke website, the vision was clear from the outset, aiming to "make life more interesting for bettors and gamers alike", with a mission to supply a "world-class betting and gaming experience".
William Hill itself was founded in 1934 and opened its first shop in 1966. It was one of the first of the larger players in the industry to go online, launching its internet betting product in 1998. In short, we are talking about a heavy hitter here.

WH Ireland Limited operates William Hill in the Republic of Ireland. It holds a remote betting licence (GRAI-1096-RB-26-0001) issued by the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) for its sports betting facilities. Hills is also licensed and regulated in Great Britain by the UKGC (39225).
William Hill's Trustpilot rating is a woeful 1.2 out of 5. This is a rating born from over 7k reviews so it's not great news. However, if we compare this rating to scores of other big betting operators on Trustpilot, it doesn't differ too much. Typically, bookies score low on Trustpilot.
Yes, in March 2023, William Hill was hit with a record £19.2m fine by the UK Gambling Commission for failures in compliance with social responsibility and anti-money laundering procedures. No fines have been handed out by GRAI yet, as you would expect.
During our testing, we were a little disappointed with the deposit options available at William Hill. We reviewed Hills on an Android device, and despite this, Apple Pay was one of just three payment methods. Google Pay wasn't a viable option.
The other two deposit options are bank transfer and debit card deposits. The minimum deposit is €10 with all methods, which isn't the best in the industry, and the same can be said for the maximum of €1,250.
The lack of e-wallet payment options like Skrill or PayPal for Irish players is also a little frustrating, especially in this day and age.
On the bright side, there is a 'quick deposit' option that comes in handy, prepopulating your chosen/preferred payment method.
Furthermore, we did find the option to use Revolut via bank transfer. This is a little different from a straight deposit via Revolut. You need to enter your IBAN and all relevant Revolut banking details.
| Payment Method | Min Deposit | Max Deposit | Deposit Fee | Processing Time | Triggers Bonus |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Visa | €10 | €1,250 | No fee | Instant | |
Mastercard | €10 | €1,250 | No fee | Instant | |
| Apple Pay | €10 | €1,250 | No fee | Instant | |
Instant Bank Transfer | €10 | €1,250 | No fee | Instant | |
| Revolut Pay | €10 | €1,250 | No fee | Instant |
Despite the lack of options available to deposit at Hills it's a relatively simple process with a debit card:
Once logged into your William Hill account, head to the header bar and click on the gold 'Deposit' button. It is located in the top right corner.
If you click the 'add method' link at the top, a page is brought up showing you a choice of three different payment options.
These are Apple Pay, bank transfer, and adding another debit card. We noticed we could also use Revolut via bank transfer.
After choosing and entering the payment method details, you will be brought to a screen where you can enter the desired deposit amount and your card security number (if you opted for a debit card.
When done, hit the blue 'Deposit' bar.
When the process is complete, a screen will pop up showing receipt of a successful transaction. Click 'Continue' to start betting.
In our test, we could withdraw by bank transfer as well as the method we deposited with. The minimum withdrawal by bank transfer was €25, which is too high for our liking and makes that option a lot less attractive.
One thing to note is that the minimum withdrawal by Visa debit was €5, less than the minimum deposit which was €10. This is not typical for bookmakers but came as a nice surprise.
It should also be noted that if withdrawing by bank, you can upload your Revolut IBAN and payment details, so that's as good as an added payment method.
It mentions on the withdrawal page that the process via debit card could take anywhere from a few hours to 3 days, but we are happy to report that in our test it took just 15 minutes for funds to land in our account.
| Payment Method | Min Withdrawal | Max Withdrawal | Withdrawal Fee | Withdrawal Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Visa | €5 | Not specified | No fee | 15 minutes in our test |
Mastercard | €5 | Not specified | No fee | within 24 hours |
| Apple Pay | €5 | Not specified | No fee | up to 48 hours |
Instant Bank Transfer | €25 | Not specified | No fee | 1-3 business days |
| Revolut Pay | €25 | Not specified | No fee | 1-3 business days |
It's easy to withdraw funds from William Hill. Simply follow our step-by-step guide below:
Making sure you are first logged into your account, open up your banking section by clicking on your balance, located in the top right corner.
Here you'll find a list of sections to explore from the menu. Pay attention to the blue deposit and withdraw buttons at the top and hit 'Withdraw'.
Your withdrawal method will default to the last used deposit method. You can change this to bank account via the 'add method' link provided.
For most people, it's then simply a case of entering your desired withdrawal amount in the space provided and hitting the blue 'Withdraw button.
William Hill gives you an opportunity to double-check the withdrawal amount and sends you to a page where you can either confirm the amount or change it.
Proceed by tapping the blue 'Withdraw' bar at the bottom of the screen.
A confirmation receipt of the withdrawal will now appear. Simply hit 'Continue' and you're set to begin navigating the William Hill site.
With William Hill having such longevity in the gambling space and being under the guidance of the Evoke group, punters should expect at least a solid offering. In our review, we tested all aspects of the site.
Looking at the sports menu, there are over 30 sports in the Hills' portfolio. In truth, more could perhaps be expected. Nevertheless, we took a more in-depth look at the most popular sports amongst Irish and UK punters, like football and racing.
William Hill are known for bet boosts on high-profile games and we can see four of five of these on the popular matches. That comes with around 100 markets and up to 15 of those can be added into your Bet Builder
There's a Bet Builder Hub too where you can 'quick pick' popular or preset Bet Builders. I can tell you that William Hill is one of the pioneers of the Bet Builder Feature.
Acca Boost and early payout offers are just some of the specials on offer. Impact sub is also very valuable for the soccer bettor. As ever with big bookmakers, the option is there to bet on global football.
Last but not least, we checked out the betting margins. We're talking around 7% for the Champions League games and 8% for Premier league games, so an average of around 7.5% holds up well against its competitors.
We were highly impressed with the horse racing spread at William Hill. Specials and promos included price boosts, lengthen your odds, money back, and each way extra.
On the menu bar, you can sort by next races, meetings, futures, and by geo: UK and Ireland, South Africa, US and Canada, South America, Europe, and Asia.
Markets for the bigger races include place betting, match bets, betting without, Bet Builder forecasts and tricasts, and Tote.
There are info guides as well as stats resources for selected races, and don't forget the William Hill live streaming service.
Hills also have Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG) and price boosts galore on UK and Ireland Racing.
With over 30 sports to choose from at William Hill, there's something for everyone. Obscure sports like volleyball and cycling are included in the menu, as are virtual sports and eSports.
Irish bettors will be happy with the fact that Gaelic and Hurling betting is available. American sports enthusiasts will love the array of baseball, Ice Hockey, American Football, and basketball markets on show.
Politics and novelty betting is also included in the Hills portfolio. Furthermore, we thought the layout of the William Hill site was well above average. It wasn't hard to find the sports, markets, or relevant sections we were looking for.
To toggle from the William Hill sportsbook to casino, you have to hit the 'Vegas' links found in the main header menu bars. We found this a little confusing and we are seasoned veterans.
The first thing we saw was a new player offer, as well as a bunch of daily promos like bonus drops, so there is a clear focus on offering customers value.
The casino library is neatly laid out with loads of subcategories and there are some huge progressive jackpots to be won on the slots.
There's a decent spread of over 2,000 games in the William Hill Casino. These are broken up into slots, Live Casino, table games, arcade, slingo, bingo and poker.
The William Hill app is available from both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. It'sdeveloped by WHG (International) Limited and takes up around 160.2 MB on your device.
On iOS, the app scores 4.5/5 from 11k ratings. On Android, it scores 4.3 based on 32.9k ratings, which is a very strong sample size. It has over one million downloads on Android.
You can enjoy a myriad of exclusive offers, specials and live streaming from the William Hill app. We at least found it to be very useful and definitely preferred it over the mobile browser version.

The William Hill responsible gambling page can be found via the 'Safer Gambling' link in the footer menu, and the drop-down menu in your banking area.
In there you'll find responsible gambling tools like:
There's a safer gambling overview with hints and tips on problem gambling, and you can visit a comprehensive FAQ section in the 'Help' area.
Links to gambling help resources like Gamblers Anonymous and Gambling Therapy run by Gordon Moody can be found in different areas of the website including the footer.
In short, we feel William Hill does a good job of promoting responsible gambling, while offering the tools necessary for those who might need it (perhaps the bookie has learned from its UKGC fine!).
Customer support at William Hill was efficient during our testing of the site. We got past the Know Your Customer (KYC) checks fairly swiftly with the help of support.
Live chat is available 24/7 via the help section and 'contact us' links. You can go straight to the Help section. Chat is run by AI, but you can get in touch with a real-life agent pretty quickly.
It was hard to find, but there is a direct email address to contact support (as you can see below). The only real negative to report here is that we couldn't find a phone number.
